a little about us

who we are

We are an association of Mornington Peninsula women business leaders committed to furthering purpose-led female businesses, supporting them to thrive and to extend our positive impacts within the community.

We collaborate to better understand and rise above our unique challenges, advocate for change and to more purposefully connect with and support our region.

“Women in Business Mornington Peninsula is an action and advocacy group – a passionate, committed and inspiring collection of women business leaders driven to create measurable, positive outcomes for our community. We see our businesses as not just a shop or service but engaged and responsible citizens and our network as fundamental to improving the prosperity and sustainability of our Mornington Peninsula communities.”

why we’re needed

Women-led businesses are surging on the Mornington Peninsula. Women are shifting from working for others to growing their own ventures and by doing so, are changing the face of business. Our region, that sits in ambiguity between metro resources and regional support, creates specific challenges for our businesses, in some cases adding to the already existing hindrances faced by female business ownership.

And while many of these businesses are enormously successful, women led businesses face specific challenges that can be limiting to growth, security and stability. COVID has exacerbated some of these difficulties and has been a driving force for collaboration that ensures the sustainability of our businesses and the impacts for our community. The creation of the WIB MP network was borne from within the context of COVID, understanding that women have been hardest hit and this group is focused on creating a stronger community from these challenges – both within our member network and within our Mornington Peninsula community.

We know that with fewer resources, women are uniquely positioned to lead successful businesses, focused on an engaged and healthy workforce, on creating products and services focused on ethics and responsible leadership and create tangible links to community for the betterment of those around them.

Founding members identified the need for a program that allows local business women to collaborate, support and inspire each other, problem solve, elevate and grow their collective impact.

We will do this with a focus on not just our future sustainability but with a view to bettering the lives of women in our community as a whole and creating a stronger, more resilient future for female led business owners.
