I’m a Councillor for the Mornington Peninsula Shire. I lead an organisation that has recently committed to empowering our Community’s vision and I couldn’t be prouder. This is the preamble to the vision Welcome (Wominjeka) to the Mornington Peninsula, bound by green spaces and sea. We honour and pay respects
Hello, I’m Sarah Race! I completed my Bachelor of Arts (Politics and History) at the University of Queensland in 1996, and in 1997 I headed off to the UK. My 6 month adventure turned into an 11 year epic. I travelled, worked, met, and married, my husband before returning home in 2008. My professional experience includes: working across the e-commerce, tourism and community development industries, within the public and private sectors, in the UK and Australia.
I’m an advocate for locally driven initiatives that deliver value for the whole community. This passion is evident in the Southern Peninsula Repair Cafe, Crop Swap and Beach Clean Boards - three initiatives I created and drove to better serve the community. I have worked with a number of community groups and individuals that have shown enthusiasm and tireless dedication to this beautiful place we call home. I’m currently serving as Deputy Mayor for the Mornington Peninsula Shire and representing our Council on the State Government's Gender Equity Advisory Committee.
